Today’s beautiful wedding inspiration shoot took place at the incredible Duke of Cornwall Hotel in Plymouth. The shoot concept was opulent blush, copper and gold wedding styling, a stunning colour combination.

Copper and gold together make such a great colour palette for a wedding, in any season. The copper gives a pop of colour and the gold a luxe feel. The creative team also used navy and blush pink to add depth to the styling, and together with the copper and gold this shoot has a wonderful luxurious feel.

If you’re looking for some sparkling styling ideas then you will love the tablescapes. Fabulous sequin tablecloths, beautiful floral arrangements and candelabras adorn each table, and the navy sashes on the chairs complement the rose gold tablecloths perfectly. The top table has an array of small copper vases, each filled with luscious blooms and foliage, and even the beautiful wedding cake has a touch of sparkle, with gold leaves.

The bride and groom look fabulous, and I particularly love the wedding dress with soft tulle shoulder drapes and elegant tulle skirt. The bride’s hair and make-up is beautiful too. I’m all for natural bridal make-up but it’s nice to see a bride who can carry off a pop of colour. Finally, if you’re looking for wedding hair ideas, the bride’s updo is amazing. You’ll definitely want to show this to your hair stylist!

These beautiful pictures by Mimosa Photography showcase the fabulous blush, copper and gold wedding styling ideas perfectly, and of course The Duke of Cornwall Hotel, a stunning wedding venue which oozes charm and history.

A Luxurious Feel

“I adore a styled shoot, so to have the opportunity to work alongside the team at The Duke of Cornwall Hotel on their most recent was a thrill.

“As you walk through the doors of the hotel you’re thrown back in time to the building’s ostentatious past. Thankfully preserved, unlike so much of Plymouth, The Duke of Cornwall has retained its original features, luxury and charm.

“I felt traditional was the way forward for this shoot, but with an added touch of opulence. I chose navy as a colour, maybe subconsciously with the city’s marine history in mind, which classically contrasts so beautifully with blush pink, and accented with gold and copper for a luxurious feel.

“We included many different areas of the hotel to capture the feel of how our bride and groom’s day unfolded. From bridal preparation in one of the hotel’s sumptuous bedrooms through to the wedding breakfast in the ballroom where the table settings, cake and stationery were the stars of the show.

“Working alongside such creatively talented suppliers from Plymouth and the wider Devon area was such a treat. Their generosity in not only supplying their exquisite products, but also their time was overwhelming and provided the shoot with such elegance. I can’t thank everyone enough.” — Mimosa Photography

Rich Floral Palette

“I was really excited to be involved in this shoot. Meg from Mimosa Photography sent across a gorgeous mood board of gold, blush and navy/black, so I got busy designing a rich floral palette to reflect these tones.

“I took inspiration from the Pinterest fashion for unstructured, undone bouquets and foliage only arrangements. I’ve always had a hankering to get crafty with gold leaf too, so this was the perfect opportunity to combine the two!

“I created a bridal bouquet with stunning ‘Combo’ and ‘Kahala’ roses, plus lots of textured foliage, brunia, astrantia and pretty blue forget-me-not to set off the gold roses.

“I found a rustic, textured urn on my travels which I upcycled with gold leaf and finished with a lovely foliage only pedestal. To lift the foliage I sprayed mason jars gold and copper, filled them with roses, forget me not and astrantia, and dotted them around the urn to create the display.

“I also enjoyed making the buttonhole/floral brooch for the groom to model! It was I wonderful shoot filled with talented people and I really enjoyed being a part of it.” — Secret Garden Flowers

Eye-Catching Hair Accessory

“Knowing that the colour palette for this shoot was a mix of navy, blush, copper and gold I found the most beautiful original vintage leaves which fitted the brief perfectly. The Duke of Cornwall is a stylish and sophisticated venue so I worked delicate sprays of Swarovski rainbow crystals, pearls and diamanté on gold-plated wire to create a timeless but eye-catching piece, incorporating the vintage leaves.

“A versatile hair accessory, brides can wear a side band with either hair up or down styles, and one like this with sprays can be a nice alternative to a vine.” — The Lucky Sixpence

Rich and Elegant

“We chose our Midnight Romance range for this shoot as we felt it captured the rich and elegant feel that was being targeted. With the deep navy and blush accent it has the rich undertones but a soft, romantic finish. The brush lettering paired with an elegant serif font, finished with sprigs of floral graphics in the soft blush tones, is such a lovely combination. It really marries the floral and the formal styling.” — Anon Design

White Anemone Wedding Cake

“I looked at the hotel and their style and vision, and felt that touches of gold on the cake would suit The Duke of Cornwall Hotel and its luxurious surroundings.

“The colours were part of the brief, but I chose the striking white anemones with deep blue centres as they create such a focal wow factor on the cake. My style is elegant and striking so I kept with my signature tall tiers and sharp edges.

“I always want to design and create a wedding cake that will ensure a real impact when guests arrive at the venue, and I loved creating this masterpiece for The Duke of Cornwall.” — The Centrepiece Cake Company
