The team behind this city chic styled wedding shoot have worked their magic to create stunning wedding styling at The Alverton in Cornwall. We love the industrial colours of white and grey that work so well for winter weddings, the floral table arrangements are beautiful, and just wait until you see the bride’s dress (oh, and we love her incredible hairstyle).
So enjoy the last day of this year by taking in the glory of this wonderful shoot, co-ordinated and styled by Jenny Wren and Hazel Parsons. Happy New Year everyone…
“The Alverton, an iconic wedding venue in Corwall, was the location for this sophisticated city chic styled wedding shoot. Located in Truro, this striking Grade II listed building was the perfect setting for an effortless and elegant city chic vibe.
“A sense of grandeur, history and elegance was created by the grand oak doors, sandstone walls, Cornish Delabole slate roof and mullioned windows. The Alverton’s brasserie area is a modern space but with a slightly industrial feel, and the shoot was mostly set in this area.
“Kirsty of The Paper Princess created large flowers to dress the Great Hall, creating a visual feast for the eyes. The poppies made a very dramatic impact on the ceremony area, and their vibrancy added a pop of colour which worked well with the gothic architecture.
“We chose a crisp yet subtle colour scheme for the shoot, with white and industrial grey complemented by the green from the foliage and flowers. We used individual succulents in small ceramic pots and grouped them with pretty jars of white flowers and mercury tea lights to add a touch of glamour.
“Beverly from Ballooning Buds and Bows set off the sophisticated look with her clever use of textures, reflection and height in her floral displays. Gladioli, hydrangea and agapanthus created a bold look for the fireplace and was in keeping with the colour scheme. Stunning decor collections provided by Sam of Stagazey Wedding Decor Hire helped to create the city chic look , and the fireplace was dressed with mismatched silver and mercury candlesticks with elegant white candles, black and white photos in silver frames, and succulents in white pots.
“For our wedding cake we chose ‘Lerryn’ from Peboryon’s new Duchy Collection, a design which was inspired by a beautiful apple tree on the bank of the river Lerryn in Cornwall. With a soft-green base and leafy sugar apple tree topper, this beautiful cake had just the right blend of clean, contemporary style and blossom brushwork for our city chic theme.
“A variety of foliage in different shapes and sizes were used for the table centrepieces. Jam jars of different sizes, filled with foliage and flowers and wrapped with a silver net and worded ribbon, were used for the long tables, and the round tables were decorated with round mirrors with a wreath of flowers around the edge, with small succulents under an upturned wine glass on the mirror. The backdrop of white table linen with the sharp contrast of a charcoal grey table runner gave a crisp finish.
“The stationery was designed by Kirsty of The Paper Princess, who wanted to create crisp, clean lines, with a slightly French, industrial look. She used a colour palette of grey and white, and brought the outside in by using touches of green from rosemary sprigs, keeping the look soft and sophisticated. The corners of the place cards were rounded to give a softer feel, and the font had a casual brush typeface, a rich inky texture, and a masculine, edgy vibe.”
