Kali and Hansel’s gorgeous wedding, photographed by Our Labor of Love Photography, took place in Hansel’s parents’ back garden in Calverton, New York. With help from the special people in their lives, Kali and Hansel created a very personal wedding…
“Hansel is from Guatemala, and my family is from Georgia. We wanted to bring the two cultures together while letting our style come through too, of course. Our wedding took place in Hansel’s parents’ back yard on the north fork of Long Island. It was all about love, food, fun, family and friends. We wanted it to be colourful, fun, and casual; basically a fancy barbeque with a lot of DIY touches. To pull it off, it really was a collaboration with all the special people in our lives, and we are so blessed.
“We had a mariachi band to serenade our guests during dinner and at the ceremony, where Hansel’s cousin Gabie performed a beautiful bilingual ceremony. My dad made me an amazing cake stand, my mom and I baked all the cakes, my grandmother did the flowers, and we had a pig roast, tamales, and sweet Georgia peaches. The heart holographic glasses were my favourite little DIY touch — combined with sparklers, they were pretty magical, but then again, so was the whole night!”
