Holly and Matthew enjoyed a fun-filled wedding day surrounded by their closest friends and family, featuring their favourite aspects of Scarborough; relaxed, charming and unfussy. They wanted the theme to remain local in its essence, engrossed in Scarborough culture; featuring rural pub-life, fresh sea air and of course those famous Scarborough fish and chips! These pictures by York Place Studios show they certainly achieved their goal.
After treating their guests to some of Scarborough’s finest at the Victoria Seaview Restaurant (alongside a proper Yorkshire pot of tea!) Mr and Mrs Kotzé presented their guests with a unique wedding favour: hand-bound scrolls inscribed with the same story Holly’s sister had read out at the ceremony, written by the bride herself.
“We decided right away to do this sooner rather than later because we’re just that sort of couple. We got back to the UK after the boat’s season in the November so decided on an early December wedding. We knew immediately it would be in my local town of Scarborough and even more local village of Cloughton. The scenery is just stunning and we wanted to show Matthew’s South African family a true taste of British Seaside and North Yorkshire life.
“The things we both considered important were good people, good music and good scenery.”
