Laurie and Celine’s beautiful wedding, photographed by DanielRM, took place in Celine’s home town Cargese, on the stunning island of Corsica. The couple had a small and intimate wedding with a rustic style to keep with the Corsican traditions, and the details fitted perfectly with the landscape of the island.
“We wanted a small convivial wedding with only close friends and family. We held the wedding in my home town in Corsica, and held a reception after the town hall ceremony on the church grounds.
“The style was rustic and in keeping with Corsican traditions. We used a lot of olive branches to decorate the car, the chairs at the reception and on the name tags; olive branches are seen as a symbol of fidelity and eternity. We also used yellow a lot; it fitted perfectly with the landscape and created a great contrast with the sea. I particularly loved my shoes; every time I lifted my dress to walk they would pop out and surprise everybody.
“My dress was from the 1960’s, and I had it altered to fit my shape and style. The lace was adjusted to flatter my neck and I cut it as low as I could in the back to create a dramatic look from behind, as that was what most people saw during the receptions.
“Our best friend married us in a reception on the side of the cliff, and as I walked down the aisle my brother played ‘Imagine’ by John Lennon; this was magical. We used my grandmother’s Jam jars as candle holders; they were perfect to stop the wind from blowing out the candles, and added a great charm to a very modern setting.”
