And the winner is… Dan Hough Photography!

Picture of bride and groom taken though tree branches - Picture by Dan Hough Photography

We now have our first three finalists for our Picture of the Year vote, after this stunning picture by Dan Hough Photography received the most votes in our March 2013 Picture of the Day competition. The picture was taken at the wedding of Harriet and Andy in August 2012, and Dan told us more about the couple and how this picture came about…

“I first met Harriet and Andy a few months before their wedding to do an engagement shoot. I use this first shoot as a way of getting to know the couple, and I find that if they are a bit shy this can help brush aside some of the nerves! Harriet and Andy were so cool though it was immediately obvious that there would be no awkwardness.

“They are the most friendly and laid back couple you can ever wish to meet, which made my time with them effortless. Also, from a wedding photographer’s perspective so obviously in love that shots showing true emotion were not hard to come by.

“This shot was taken just after the wedding ceremony itself. I let the couple be themselves and take the time to reflect on the fact that their lives together had just begun. The shot shows emotion and happiness that can’t be forced or staged, and it’s this that I aim for in all my pictures.”
