Marguerite Hannah created the new MiaMia Flying Down to Rio 2020 collection for modern brides. There’s a strong emphasis on elegant A-line and slim silhouettes allied with a beautiful array of unusual and distinctive laces and embellishments.
I’m a big fan of MiaMia wedding dresses. Not just for the beautiful designs, but also because they’re affordable — prices for the new collection start from just £345. The ‘younger sister’ of Alan Hannah, MiaMia is strong and forward-thinking but takes from the older sister’s experience. There’s no expense spared in the sheer quality and cut.
Classic Shapes
Highlights from the Flying Down to Rio 2020 collection include Patience, a figure-hugging dress with the most beautiful scalloped lace skirt and beaded belt. On the jewel-encrusted Bettina, shimmering beaded organza brings the classic wedding dress to life, sparkling and twinkling from all angles. It’s a real showstopper.
Astrid also has a classic shape, but the skirt’s lovely fluid chiffon gives it a very soft and feminine movement. The bodice is designed with the most intricate and detailed cotton lace, and this theme is continued with Eliza, a simple crepe dress with a very low V at the back. This style also has a beautiful coat which is light and sheer with long fluted sleeves and lace appliqués.
Marguerite has also developed some really intricate and eye-catching beading for the MiaMia 2020 collection, such as on Felicity. This style has amazing sheer filigree back detail which looks stunning set against the light pleated chiffon skirt. Plus, the use of sheer lace on the trains of Celine and Diva works to give a really dramatic entrance and is light enough to be completely wearable.
