Avid followers of The Wedding Community will know just how excited I get when the bridal collections for the new season launch. Well ladies, it’s that time of year again!
The latest 2019 bridal collections debuted recently at what is set to be the UK’s very own bridal ‘super-show’. This was the first year the prestigious White Gallery and newly created London Bridal Fashion Week took place under one roof. Hosted at the ExCeL in London, designers and manufacturers showcased their new 2019 wedding dresses. This event is where bridal retailers and press get the first glance at the trends for the upcoming bridal fashion season.
2019 Wedding Dress Trends
With two Royal weddings taking place this year (in case you had forgotten!) I was really excited to see what trends, styles and fabrics will emerge.
I’m seriously in wedding dress heaven looking at all the amazing designs straight off the bridal catwalk, and I’m excited to share these hot off the press pictures of some of the new 2019 wedding dresses.
Sleeves and Backs
For a while now we have seen more and more wedding dresses with sleeves, pretty much since Katherine Middleton’s wedding dress back in 2011. I’m pleased to say that long sleeves are still a big thing for 2019 bridal collections. The catwalk was full of incredible long sleeves, in both lace and sheer fabrics.

If backs are your thing then you should be doing a little happy dance right now, as there are some stunning back details, like on these two.

Capes and Necklines
There were two stand-out features from the dresses on the catwalks — capes and necklines. Brides marrying out of the summer season may be looking for a bridal cover up, and the designs on the catwalk were everything from cute short capes that just covered the shoulders, to full length capes that almost take the place of a train.

There are some really interesting necklines for next season. Ten years ago you’d have struggled to find a wedding dress that wasn’t strapless, but now there are so many different styles of necklines and straps, and they are all unique and beautiful.
The catwalk showcased an assortment of necklines, from the sexy deep plunging and sheer necklines we have seen a lot of in the bridal world recently, to the more recent addition of the more demure high neckline.

Another new feature from the catwalk is the cold shoulder strap detail, where the dress straps fall over the arms.

Showstoppers
If you’re looking for a showstopper wedding dress, then be safe in the knowledge that there are many unique 2019 wedding dresses on the way! There were quite a few dark coloured dresses gracing the catwalk, and ruffles and layering are set to be a big trend next season too. Designers also previewed incredible two-piece designs for brides who want to create their own unique bridal style.

My favourite dress from the White Gallery and London Bridal Week catwalk is this dazzling beauty by Anny Lin, Eugenia. Just look at the intricate beadwork that adorns the entire dress. Oh how you would sparkle your way down the aisle in this wedding dress! The deep plunging sheer neckline that gathers into a large beaded brooch is ultra feminine, and together with the unique long, split angle sleeves makes this dress really quite spectacular, don’t you think?

So, this is just a little glimpse into what’s to come in the wedding dress world for the coming season, and ladies, you are in for a real treat!
We will start to feature the latest 2019 bridal collections soon, so keep an eye on the site in the coming weeks and months.
