What says romance and winter more than a Nordic Christmas wedding? Nordic styling is very on trend because of the cosy details and simple natural styling. Think warm throws, twinkling lights, wood fires, furs, rustic bark, and natural deep colours such as deep red, lush green, grey and brown. Here are my Nordic wedding styling ideas to give you some inspiration for a Christmas wedding.

Say “I Do” Outside

For a truly romantic Nordic style wedding ceremony, say “I do” outdoors. Marry under a ceremony arch made of pine boughs studded with white amaryllis, white roses and silver pine cones. Don’t forget to give your guests cosy throws and blankets to cover themselves with if the weather is a bit chilly.

A Warming Entrance

Place Swedish fire logs and braziers outside your wedding venue entrance to welcome guests. You can then move them to a chill out area later in the day to create some outside warmth. Create a statement entrance display using lots of glass apothecary jars stacked on log slices and crates surrounded by greenery, and fill them with some delicious gingerbread biscuits.

Natural Table Décor

Decorate natural, rustic, wooden trestle tables for your Nordic Christmas wedding reception with silver sprayed pine cones placed on a carpet of moss or lichen (reindeer food!). Add lots of silver votives and tea lights for a warm glow as you dine too. Serve dinner on silver charger plates and decorate with a single sprig of rosemary and a handwritten name card.

Bring the Outside In

Make an overhead sparkly canopy of twinkly fairy lights to bring the look of the night sky inside to your Nordic Christmas wedding. Create some warmth, sparkle and smell from a natural wood fire, a great way to warm the room (and your guests) that looks fantastic too. Use lots of wood, including crates of different sizes, to display flower arrangements of green and ivory. Use white anemones, white poinsettia, white amaryllis and, of course, mistletoe.

Suspended Fairy Lights Over Nordic Christmas Wedding Table

Place several light up silver birch trees around the room for some additional soft lighting. Suspend glass baubles with tea lights from the ceiling in between branches of pine to bring the Nordic forest inside. The smell of the pine will hit your senses giving a natural outdoors feel to your wedding venue.

Chill Out

Create a cosy chill out area with comfy couches covered in lots of furs and sheepskins. Place these outside surrounding a fire pit with vintage wooden blanket chests filled with throws to keep your guests toasty warm. There’s something about sitting outside in the cold with a cosy blanket and a fire!
