Sometimes we get asked if we can supply a special cupcake or keepsake in addition to the main wedding cake. Occasionally the bride and groom want to give a small treat to someone special, perhaps due to individual dietary requirements, or as a sugar keepsake.

We worked for a lovely couple last year who wanted no less than five tiers of chocolate cake, drenched in chocolate icing and adorned with hundreds of chocolate frills and ruffles. All absolutely fine, except mum had an allergy to dairy products!

Five Tier Chocolate Iced Wedding Cake

We provided three beautiful little cupcakes just for mum. Completely free of dairy, they still complemented the overall wedding cake design and co-ordinated with the colour schemes.

Sugar Flower Keepsakes

A keepsake option can of course be sugar flowers. You can easily keep a posey of sugar flowers from the top of your cake if suitably secured by your cake designer and removed carefully by your caterers.

Another option is additional sugar keepsakes. Perhaps a small bouquet next to your wedding cake or these beautiful sugar teacups and flowers we created for a vintage wedding.

Vintage Sugar Garden Cake Display

We made each teacup and saucer out of sugar and filled with sugar flowers. The gave them to mums, grans and auntie as keepsakes of the wedding day.

Items crafted from sugar will keep for many years, as long as they are not keep in an airtight container. Sugar needs to breath, so keeping them on a shelf or over a mantle will be perfect for display.
