Here are my key tips and all the inspiration for bridesmaid hairstyles you need to ensure your bridal party looks picture perfect!
When choosing the right hairstyles for your bridesmaids it’s important you take into account the type of hair they have. Also, speak to them and find out what kind of hairstyle they would all be comfortable with. Remember to be realistic on what will work with their hair length, type, and the style of dresses and bridesmaid accessories.
Wedding Morning Timings
Will your bridesmaids need their hair prepped first? Allow extra time if their hair needs straightening or washing and blow-drying on the wedding morning.
Unless hair is particularly oily, most stylists like to work on dry hair that has been washed the day before. Also, bear in mind that hair has to last well throughout the day.
The time taken to style each bridesmaid‘s hair will depend on the style you chose. Most stylists allow 30-45 mins per person for an updo or curls on the wedding day.
Styling
Talk to your stylist about different styles. Collect photos of hairstyles you like and book trials for your bridesmaids if you do not want to leave it until the big day. Pinterest is a great place to create a hairstyle mood board.
Bridesmaid Hairstyle Ideas
To give you some ideas, here are some looks I’ve created in the past. Take your inspiration for your bridesmaid hairstyles from the style of your wedding. For example, is your wedding inspired by a vintage era, is it classic, or a relaxed boho style?
Loose Waves with a Waterfall Braid
This hairstyle is perfect for a relaxed boho wedding, and the braid will keep hair tidily off the face all day. This style will work on medium/thick hair, using straighteners or tongs and hairspray to achieve a relaxed, loose wave.
Low Bun with Side Braids
This tidy updo style is suitable for anyone with medium/thick hair, shoulder length and beyond. The bun is braided and loosened to look like curls.
Updo with Messy, Romantic Curls
This style is perfect for someone with long, natural wavy/curly hair, and is flattering on anyone who wants height around the crown.
Loose Braided Updo
Styled into a waterfall braid and then braided at the back and pinned, this hairstyle is suitable for most hair types.
Vintage Inspired 60s Half Updo
Back-combed and pinned half up, using dry shampoo for volume. This style is perfect for a retro themed wedding or a twist on a classic style, and is suitable for most hair types.
