With so many summer weddings already planned for 2017 we have had lots of first dance song requests for this year. When we look at the first dance songs 2017 couples are choosing for their weddings, one thing that stands out is this generation are big fans of the guitar.
Number one on the list is James Arthur ‘Say You Won’t Let Go’, a song which also made it onto the 2016 list. With lyrics like “we drank too much, I held your hair back when you were throwing up”, it takes a modern approach on a love song. Who said chivalry was dead? I do love this frank and honest ode to love, and with its contemporary style, so do many bride and grooms to be.
Second on the first dance songs 2017 list is a huge leap for the Scottish rockers whose anthems have seen them grow from Alt-Rock to Stadium Rock in recent years. Biffy Clyro’s hit ‘Many of Horror (When We Collide)’ has made them a household name and brought many newlyweds together for their first dance.
Other contemporary curve balls such as Foo Fighters ‘Everlong’ and George Ezra’s ‘Budapest’ also made it to the top 10. This shows that for first dance songs in 2017, a guitar and honest lyrics are the perfect recipe for romance.
