There has been some fantastic music in the charts over the past year. I’m sure plenty of you out there are throwing around ideas for your first dance, and although a classic ‘golden oldie’ is always nice, I think it’s a lovely idea to choose a modern song. Perhaps something that reminds you of the proposal, or that signifies important events that happened last year.

Choosing a first dance song is such a personal task, but I think there are a few songs that will come up over and over again in 2012. So, drum roll please… here’s my predictions for 2012’s top 10 first dance songs…

1. Marry You — Bruno Mars

What could be more lyrically perfect?

2. Lego House — Ed Sheeran

We love Ed, and this is a beautiful song.

3. Lovesong — Adele

A lesser known track by Adele, but this cover of The Cure’s song is just gorgeous!

4. Just the Way You Are — Bruno Mars

That Bruno’s a smoothie, isn’t he?

5. You Got the Love — Florence and the Machine

This was very popular in 2011 and I’m sure will be in 2012 too.

6. Love on Top — Beyonce

A great tune if you want to create a fun party vibe.

7. Wherever You Will Go — Charlene Soraia

Just beautiful — guaranteed to bring a tear to your Granny’s eye!

8. Dance with Me Tonight — Olly Murs

A bit of cheeky chappy Ollie to get the crowd going.

9. I Won’t Let You Go — James Morrison

Such a soulful voice, and a beautiful song to go with it.

10. Nothing’s Real but Love — Rebecca Ferguson

What a gorgeous track this is, and perfect for a first dance.
