It is not just what you wear, it’s how you wear it! Many girls opt for a wedding dress with a lot of detail on it; with so many sequins and layers there is so much going on. If you go for a wedding dress with a simple silhouette you have more ways you can style your dress to reflect your own style/look, personalising the dress to make it your own.

Everyone wants to look their best on their wedding day, wearing a dress that is so big and special, but you still want to look like you, just on a really good day.

Flattering

A beautiful yet simple silhouette that is a great cut will flatter your shape. It will hide the bits you’re not so happy with and accentuating the good bits. You’ll not only feel amazing, you’ll also have the perfect blank canvas on which to style the dress.

The dresses shown in this article are a homage to Frida Khalo. They’re all very simple in shape, well made with beautiful fabrics, and create the perfect silhouette. The amazing Perspex jewellery adds colour and brings together the old shapes with the modern materials of the jewellery.

Accessorising

If your wedding dress is a light colour such as white, ivory or Champagne, you could add a coloured bolero, flowers, hair piece and jewellery without it being too much.

Whatever theme you love and go for, if your wedding dress is simple in detail you can really have fun with the styling. It also means you can wear the dress again with different styling/accessories, or even dye it afterwards.

My dress was a very simple 50’s style Balenciaga dress. I just added lots of great lace and crystal beaded accessories to bring the whole look to life.
