Very little advice is given on finding a headpiece to suit your head shape. As so few of us wear headpieces, except on our wedding day, it’s hard to get right . So, here are some guidelines to try and make it easier…

Tiara

Taller brides should be cautious of adding more visual head height with an across the top of the head ‘tiara’ style headpiece. A side piece would be more advisable, bringing the top of the eye line down. Tiaras tend to work better for petite brides.

Side Headpiece

However, be aware of a point on a headpiece at the top of the head and how it can exaggerate a heart-shaped face. This is best flattered by a headpiece worn on the side.

Comb

Side headpieces have become very in vogue over the last few years, but if a face is very symmetrical it can look odd. Something worn away from the face, say, a comb at the back of the head, can look much better.

Forehead Headpiece

Forehead style headpieces, loved by boho festival look brides, definitely draw attention to the eyes. However, they need a deep forehead so as not to squash the face, unless the band is narrow with the decoration on the side, which can be a lot kinder to wear.

Or course, choosing a headpiece which suits your style of wedding dress is vital. It’s therefore best to choose your headpiece when you are wearing your dress, as this ensures you’ll get the balance right.
