Interview With: Helena Talbot
Company Name: HT Headwear (Now HT Hats)
Location: South West London
Who/What is HT Headwear?
HT Headwear is my own headwear company that I set up to service affordable bespoke headwear to ‘normal’ gals like myself.
How did HT Headwear come about and how long has the business been going?
I started HT Headwear when I was on maternity leave with my first child in 2010. The idea of having my own company was planted in my mind after making headwear for myself and my bridal party for my own wedding back in 2009.
Where do you source your materials from?
I only source materials from UK suppliers.
Where do you get the inspiration for your designs from?
Everywhere and everything! It could be anything from a spider’s web to a cut wine glass, to a dried up old leaf on the floor!
What sets HT Headwear apart from other headwear specialists?
I pride myself on being a friendly approachable company that is willing to cater for all the bride’s requirements at an affordable price. I never say no to a request, I will have a go at anything!
Do you just create wedding headwear or do you have other collections?
No I cater for all events… race days, proms, costume props; the list is endless!
Random question…Milk or dark chocolate?
Definitely milk!
What’s the best thing about your job?
Being able to work at home, in my own hours, whilst being able to spend quality time with my children and not having to face that London Tube into the city every day!
Who are your favourite fashion designers and why?
I don’t really have any favourite ‘fashion designers’ as such but if I had to name someone it would have to be Jenny Packham. Her bridal wear is just to die for! I wore Jenny Packham on my wedding day and felt a million dollars! I have never seen a dress of hers that I don’t like.
Do you have a favourite item of headwear you have created?
Yes, I love the ‘Belinda’ headpiece which is currently our best seller!
Where can I find out more about HT Headwear?
