What type of venue is Holbrook Manor and how old is the building?

Holbrook Manor is a privately owned English Georgian country house wedding venue with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, set in twenty acres of unspoiled land. Over 800 years old, the venue is situated in the heart of the Somerset countryside, on the borders of Dorset and Wiltshire.

Holbrook Manor was once owned by the famous General Shrapnel, and the earliest known owner was Giles Hose (1201-02). It was in 1998 that the new owners, John and Pat McGinley, took over the hotel and embarked on a refurbishment programme and development which included the health suite, indoor pool and garden rooms.

Holbrook Manor can cater for weddings up to 150 in the day and 250 for evening receptions.

What rooms are available for couples having their wedding at Holbrook Manor?

We have five separate areas licensed for Civil Ceremonies, all with direct access to the gardens.

Ceremonies at Holbrook Manor

For your wedding ceremony, The Garden Room has a light and airy feel with impressive chandeliers and stunning views out across the terrace to the gardens, with direct access to the outside areas too for enjoying pre and post ceremony drinks and photographs.

Couples can enjoy a spring or summer wedding outside in the gardens. Our Summer House is a very pretty and intimate space for your ceremony bordered with beautiful flowers and plants. Space in the Summer House is very limited, but there is ample room on the adjacent lawns for your guests to be seated and enjoy being part of this very special place for your wedding ceremony.

Wedding Breakfast and Reception

With capacity for up to 150 seated guests, you will soak up the natural backdrop of the house gardens in the day and in the evening the lighting of the trees outside provides a magical ambience. When the sun sets the Garden Room transforms to a great space for your evening celebrations to start.

For larger weddings, our tennis lawn is ideally located next to the house for a marquee wedding breakfast. A gorgeous spot with lovely views back to the house and the gardens, and yet only a few steps away from the terrace too.

Is catering provided for weddings?

Presented with finesse, our talented in-house chefs and catering team prepare food on-site using only the very best, locally sourced ingredients.

To help with your planning, we’ve created an extensive menu package, easily adaptable to fit seamlessly with your day and your individual tastes. Our chefs always aim for perfection so you can rest assured that you and your guests will remember your wedding breakfast for all the right reasons.

Our wedding co-ordinators, Helena and Chloe, can help you with all your wedding arrangements at Holbrook Manor. One of them will also be at the venue on your special day to make sure you have your perfect day.

Surrounded by extensive grounds, elegant terraces, lawns and flowerbeds, Holbrook Manor is a picture-perfect setting for your wedding day. Our grounds and gardens really do set a beautiful scene for your wonderful dream wedding. We are so proud of our amazing 400 years old Cedar of Lebanon tree which also resides to the rear of the main house and provides a dramatic backdrop for some very special wedding photography.

The whole house is your home for the day. The bride and groom can relax and unwind using the facilities, which include an indoor pool, health spa, fitness suite, sauna and steam room. Most important of all is how we go out of our way to make you feel at home. Come rain or shine the house and grounds afford endless photo opportunities, giving you wonderful memories of your special day.

How many guest rooms does does Holbrook Manor have?

We have a sumptuous bridal suite and 20 other luxurious and spacious bedrooms. There is also further accommodation in nearby Wincanton if required.
