We are so fortunate in the UK to have some of the most incredible landscapes in the entire world. If you are looking for a UK wedding destination with a killer backdrop, then the Lake District is just perfect. This ‘Wild Spirit’ wedding inspiration shoot shows just what a dramatic backdrop the Lake District could provide for your wedding or elopement.
The natural beauty of the surroundings is the perfect setting for wild and rustic styling. The concept is simple yet elegant, and so beautiful. Much of the styling is designed around the beautiful calligraphy wedding stationery created by By Moon and Tide. This stationery has exquisite calligraphy on rustic paper and, in keeping with the surroundings, there is even a rustic picture of a mountain to coordinate for the second part of the shoot.
For the beach shoot, the elegantly styled tablescape, with a wonderful wild foliage covering, beautiful silver candelabra, cut crystal glasses, ribbon-tied silver cutlery, also features a calligraphy written menu. The whole styling is natural and rustic, yet elegant.
I adore the bride’s styles. A cool, boho style trouser two-piece with crop top works impeccably with the first beach setting. I love her relaxed curled updo with boho braid, finished with a pretty hair vine, and a pretty ribbon-tied bouquet with thistles complements her look.
The second style is dark and moody, perfect for the mountain setting. Against the rocky backdrop, the bride wore a strapless navy lace wedding dress, with blush under-slip. She wore her hair down and messy with a jewelled hair comb, and the bridal bouquet is oversized, wild and rustic.
This shoot has so many beautiful elements that each help to create this amazing wedding styling concept. If you are looking for rustic wedding ideas then I hope you get loads of inspiration from these fabulous pictures by Oobaloos Photography.
Wilderness, Tranquillity and Drama
“The Lake District is an incredible setting for an intimate wedding or elopement. Our Wild Spirit shoot centred around organic calligraphy elements, with bespoke stationery suites designed around the landscapes of the English Lakes and Cumbrian coastline. The look combined wilderness, tranquillity and drama.
“Whether you’re marrying in a traditional venue, barn or marquee, or outdoors near the sea or surrounded by countryside, let the environment set the scene for your day.
“Sheryl Fish of Oobaloos Photography travelled to the Lake District for the shoot. Sheryl’s images have a uniquely artistic feel to them, and her photography style couldn’t have been more perfect. She looks for emotion, laughter, love, and the subtle, natural beauty in every image, and captures the spirit of a place and moment so beautifully.”
Beach Setting
“The shoreline, with its vast, golden beaches, inspired our first look. The dreamy bridal separates with cropped top, trousers and skirt were a lovely relaxed look for the endless shorelines. Beautiful bride Jade also carried a sublime bouquet, and her plaited updo worked perfectly with the stunning hair accessories.
“Waves inspired the torn edge of our midnight blue calligraphy stationery. Delicate ferns, glass decanters and elegant candelabra finished the tablescape wonderfully.”
Rugged Mountainside Backdrop
“I love the Lake District’s varied landscape. For the second part of the shoot it was incredible to see the breathtaking embroidered gown against the backdrop of the mountain scenery. The midnight blue layer of lace on the bespoke dress was so enchanting.
“An organic style with chunky ceramics for the mountainside picnic created the perfect focal point. The rugged mountainside inspired the invitation suite, and artisan papers with watercolour illustration and faded lettering helped set the scene.
“There’s nowhere in England as captivating or romantic as the Lake District. It’s a place I adore, and it has such potential for intimate weddings and elopements too.”
