A Vintage Picnic and Games Styled Wedding Shoot

You are all in for a very special treat today, as we are sharing the pictures from this charming wedding shoot, captured by Krista Mason Photography. This Vintage Picnic and Games shoot has been beautiful styled and crafted to create a simply gorgeous and whimsical result. The styling details, including the drinks stations, flowers, Coke bottles, bowling pins, and the pretty calligraphy tags, are all a feast for our eyes. We hope you enjoy it…

“For our shoot we wanted to do something vintage and whimsical. To achieve this look, we brought together the best team of vendors and found the perfect location, Franklin Canyon Park, to set up an afternoon reception complete with games and picnic-style dining.

“We thought a typewriter might be a fun way for the guests to leave love notes for the bride and groom, and the guests could then place them into our vintage mailbox and we could mail the love notes to the bride and groom after the wedding.

“From the vintage style basket weave to the vintage cake topper, our cake, designed by Fantasy Frosting, was the perfect treat to complete our look. It was placed on a wavy cake stand and sat on top of a vintage soda crate to tie in the Coca Cola station.

“For our beverage station we wanted to do something fun! For brides and grooms out there that love Coca Cola, we decided to create a table featuring Coke, Diet Coke, Cherry Coke, and the like, and then paired it with cherries, lemons and limes. A fun, refreshing drink for a warm, summer day.

“To go with our picnic menu of salads and sandwiches we thought it would be fun to pair them with Kettle Chips and Popcorn in a variety of flavours. We placed each snack in a paper cone and adorned them with tags, so each guest could see which flavour they were receiving. We positioned this station near the lounge area, complete with blankets and games, so guest could access it easily.

“Our lounge area featured a colourful quilt and pillows where guests could relax and play scrabble and other classic games. It was also another spot where we thought guests could eat their lunch.

“For our main tablescape, Vintage Found Rentals gave us an amazing picnic style table, complete with a mismatched bench and two folding chairs. And then came the details… on the centre of the table we placed a green and white gingham runner, and on top of the runner sat beautiful floral arrangements filled with billy balls, ranunculas, hydrangea, roses and more. Each arrangement was placed in either vintage tins or glass containers created by Peony and Plum. Our table number tag, created by Shannon Vetere and Calligraphy Katrina, was attached to a bowling pin to tie our look together. To complete the look, we had our calligrapher create an amazing chalkboard menu that included details of the wedding day menu.

“For our escort cards we wanted to do something that hasn’t been done before, but to stay in line with our look. We decided to bring in a dart board and darts and have each couple’s escort cards hang from them.

“Our bride and groom were recently married and jumped at the opportunity to have more wedding pictures taken. The bride was dressed in a beautiful wedding gown provided by Winnie Couture, her hair was done by Jane Shu of Kutting Room, with make-up by Grace An of Grace Makes Pretty Face. Both the bride and groom were styled to create a modern-vintage look, by Jen Nunn-Iwai of Nunn Better Design. Giving the Bride a retro-glamour 40’s look and the groom a cute, vintage, geek-chic look, was the perfect fit for our vintage picnic and games theme.

“We love how everything ties together to create this adorable vintage picnic game wedding, from the typed love notes for the couple, the Coca Cola station, the picnic sandwiches, snacks and cake, the game lounge, the kissing booth, and the beautiful styled couple bringing it all to life.”
