Steampunk bride and groom in front of wall with Lets Get Lost written on

If you are not familiar with the term Steampunk we’re sure you will be shortly. Inspired by industrial civilisation around the 19th century, this style is going to be a big hit with couples who want an industrial and urban style for their wedding.

Today’s styled wedding shoot, photographed by Erin Johnson Photography, shows just how cool and creative a ‘Steampunk’ wedding can be…

“The inspiration behind Steampunk stems from mechanical gears, industrial light, tarnished metals and inventive eyewear, all juxtaposed against a more feminine, organic and whimsical atmosphere. The shoot featured five vignettes all designed around this theme.

“Our tablescape included materials of silver, cedar, and brass softened by blush floral, succulents, mustard linen, and curious magnifying glass, and the place cards were accented with miniature whiskey delights and skeleton keys. The lounge was a luxurious spread of mustard and rich browns surrounded by vintage trunks and cameras, complete with elegant sofas and wingback chairs.

“Organic and rich desserts sat sweetly atop mismatched platters, surrounded by draping floral and old bedsprings adorned with tantalizing tags… let them eat cake. Whiskey was poured from timeworn decanters by our charming moustached bartender, flowing into heavy glass tumblers garnished with pomegranate, citrus, and sprigs of rosemary and mint.

“Last but certainly not least, our ceremony featured a 6-foot chalkboard with an airy quote and majestic ship, framed by stacks of suitcases and more vintage trunks. Our bridal party was dressed to the nines, with the ladies in ethereal gowns and dramatic make-up, and the gentlemen in dapper suits and top hats.”

“Ships and sails proper for the heavenly air should be fashioned.” — Johannes Kepler
