Earlier this year Val from Benessamy Weddings and Events had the pleasure of planning and co-ordinating an Open Weekend for Sami Tipi Events. The event was designed to showcase the fabulous tipi structures set within the picturesque setting of Bawdon Lodge Farm in Leicestershire — a perfect location to host a tipi wedding. Val told us about the event…
Tipis provide an atmospheric event space like no other event venue. Inspired by the Sami People of Lapland, tipis make for a fabulous outdoor celebration and provide a breathtaking alternative to a conventional marquee, and are just perfect for the increasingly popular festival style wedding.
Visitors to the event received a warm Benessamy and Sami Tipi welcome from our team and the team of fabulous suppliers.
The tipis were beautifully styled by Darby & Joan with gorgeous flowers by Tineke Floral Designs, pom poms and bunting galore by Pom Pom Studio and Emma Bunting, and lovely stationery by Best Day Ever.
The fabulous cakes and treats display was provided by Ruby Lou’s Cake Co (including Macarons to die for!).
Our lovely models wore beautiful Twobirds Bridesmaid dresses supplied by Giling and White Bridal on the Saturday, and bespoke wedding dresses by Timeless Couture on the Sunday, with hair and make up styled by Ben and David Peck-Whiston.
Visitors were entertained by music performed by The Burgundys on the Saturday and Mark James on the Sunday, whilst sampling the delicious pork and banana salsa tortillas prepared by Thomas the Caterer. Cold beer and Pimm’s (and tea and coffee — given the chilly weather!) were made available to visitors at the bar provided by The Bespoke Bartender Company in the chill out tipi. The warm welcome was completed by the roaring fire in the fabulous fire pit!
“I wanted two distinct themes for the tables, the first an elegant and classic Tuscan theme, a glamorous affair with a very neutral palette. Hessian, white florals, crystal glassware and understated stationery were the key. We had hessian and lace bunting hanging from the rafters with white, pale green and cream paper lanterns.
“The second look was a complete contrast — a bright Kate Spade inspired table with bold stripes and bright tones of coral with navy accents. Bright festival style bunting helped to pull the colours together with masses of coloured pom poms. We had glassware, plastic animals and vases spray painted gold and masses of colour on the tables.” — Karen from Darby & Joan
“I just loved creating the stationery for these themes, both totally different but utterly gorgeous in their own way. Our Tuscan Romance Collection was perfect for the rustic, Italian look. Using the brown, recycled kraft card created a lovely texture, and the black fonts and olive branch illustrations really stood out. For the colourful theme, we used our Stripe Me Pretty collection. A mix of bold colour, vintage flowers and stripes worked so well with the vintage china and bright blooms. Which is my favourite? Oh, it’s so hard to choose. I am seeing a lot of colour used in wedding stationery recently; brides certainly are being more adventurous with colour and bold patterns.” — Mirlah from Best Day Ever
