I love winter, and as much as I’ve been enjoying the recent sunshine, I’ll be honest, these stunning pictures have made me yearn for the cold, cosy months a little. Trenderway, surrounded by Cornish countryside with breathtaking views and wide-open spaces, provided the perfect setting for this rustic shoot. Inspired by the natural beauty of the location and led by shoot coordinator Hazel Parsons, a team of creatives combined to produce this edgy wedding styling look.

Inside the venue, deep red candles give an instant warmth to the rustic wood table, and the table flowers, coloured glasses and grey plates add further colour contrasts amongst the green foliage. Weaving down the centre of the table, the foliage looks stunning and makes a wonderful winter alternative to a fabric table runner. I also love the small easels the menu and table number sit on, which add another subtle, rustic touch.

Outside, a red chez lounge by the woodland provides a place for the bride and groom to relax and take in the views. Beautifully styled with candelabra, Ivy and Pampas grass, it’s also a perfect spot for couple shots.

If you’re planning a winter wedding I hope these fantastic ideas, captured by Toby Lowe Photography, give you lots of inspiration for your styling…

Natural Textures

“Trenderway has so many captivating and remote locations to choose from, giving us a wide tapestry to create the look and feel for this shoot. We wanted a look that pulled on the natural elements available at this venue such as the woodlands, deep green foliage, cool soft natural winter light, and stunning farm surroundings that reflect Trenderway’s eco-friendly ethos. We also wanted to add an edgy, stylised vibe, and used a couture wedding dress by Christine Trewinnard Couture and statement headpieces by The Lucky Sixpence to achieve this. Accents of hot colours featured throughout the styling, including the flowers, make-up, groom’s tie, vintage sofa, cake, and even in the stationery to add warmth and depth.

“The Mowhay barn has many natural textures, from its exposed stone walls to the large wooden beams overhead. It also has a warm and intimate feel whilst offering a good deal of space. We filled the wooden tables with foliage Helen from The Velvet Daisy foraged from Trenderway’s estate. The rich greenery gave a sense of bringing the outdoors in, and showed how you can create something visually stunning and rich in textures and colour for winter weddings.”

Demure Lounge Setting

“Surrounded by nature, immersed in wildlife, and with cool blue skies, the red barn and private woodlands created the opportunity to take the indoors out. Using the woods as her backdrop, Tracy from Keeping It Vintage Hire designed something very special. She created a demure lounge setting with a deep red vintage sofa, Pampas grass, candelabra with tapered candles, Ivy and greenery. The bride with her oversized ice crown and smouldering eyes sat with her groom, donning a tweed suit and a slightly rugged hairstyle, gazing out over the countryside.

“This shoot is about creating something special for your day, challenging the winter wedding norms and showcasing that anything is possible with the right venue and suppliers.”
