Inspired by apple pies, pinwheels, the glass Coca-Cola bottle, and of course red, white and blue, this all-American wedding inspiration shoot with a 1920s twist is really cool!
You don’t have to be looking for American wedding inspiration to be inspired by these styling details; what’s not to fall in love with? After seeing these pictures you might even consider having a tandem bicycle at your wedding — what fun!
Rebecca of Rebecca Keeling Studios has done an incredible job capturing this rustic American styling created by a very talented team of wedding professionals…
“We wanted to create a styled shoot that would be timely for Labor Day, but not too ‘red, white and blue’. We were inspired by all things American and fashions of the 1920s, such as tea length gowns and the gentleman’s bow tie. As we collaborated with other Charlottesville wedding vendors our ‘Rustic Americana meets Vintage Whimsy’ vision evolved to modern trends, such as menu cards and vintage touches such as the tandem bicycle.
“An out-of-the-way spot underneath a tree was the perfect spot for hanging lanterns and tying our fabric pennant banner behind the table of sweets. We adorned the small vintage sweets table with vintage soda crates stacked on top of each other to serve as a cake riser, and we placed a small floral arrangement nestled in a Mason Ball jar nearby. Our glass Coca-Cola bottles, paper straws and miniature lattice-crust fruit pies were placed in an additional soda crate, and we arranged pinwheels and sweet summer berries in lined baskets (which doubled as favours) on a wooden chair beside the table.
“Our models, real-life couple Michelle and Dave were high-school sweethearts, and were celebrating six years as a married couple. They brought their one-year old son to the shoot, which took place at Keswick Vineyards, a family-owned wedding venue and functioning vineyard.
“DIY details included the gorgeous quilt, handmade by Rebecca’s husband’s grandmother, the vintage glass bottle collection that fronted our sweets table, once owned by Rebecca’s grandfather; and the naked cake made by Rebecca with assistance from her son, Kade.
“Watching Michelle and Dave attempt to ride the vintage tandem bicycle was one of the shoot highlights! The tandem bike was adorned with long and low greenery and featured a small wicker basket containing a hand-tied bouquet of Red Roses, Red Coxcomb, Red Dahlias, White Gooseneck Loosetrife, White Limonium, Blue Thistle, Solomon Seal Berries and Seeded Eucalyptus. Michelle, concerned for her tea length gown, was a reluctant participant, making the victory of the eventual ride even sweeter!”
