Cacti, succulents, foliage, florals and a boho vibe make for some pretty awesome wedding inspiration today… This modern cactus wedding styling concept embraces everything that is cool and quirky about the humble cactus, and creates a luscious green vibe.
Splashes of vibrant colours bring the theme together, and I particularly love the bright coral in the colour palette. The styling team, led by Rock the Day, created ideas not only full of amazingly pretty details, but with an air of fun too. There are cute little cactus wedding styling details everywhere… wait until you see the cake topper!
The shoot also has a boho vibe, including cool bride and groom dreamcatcher chair signs, peacock chairs, floral hoops and the beautiful wedding dress with a bead and tassel top.
This modern, quirky styling is perfect for couples who want to inject some colour and fun into their wedding day. I hope you enjoy the fabulous pictures of these modern cactus wedding styling ideas, taken by Caroline Opacic Photography.
Bright Splashes of Colour
“Indoor botanical trends inspired this shoot. I’ve always had a love for cacti, so my aim was to create a luxe bohemian shoot with bright splashes of colour and greenery. I wanted a modern and bright venue, and the airy white surroundings of the Old Parish Rooms made it the perfect blank canvas for a shoot focused on details and striking decor.
“We filled Fable and Moon’s kids tipi corner with cactus activities, a photo booth and miniature cactus inspired sweet treats by Tiny Sarah’s Cakes. As well as the bite-size treats, Sarah also created a three-tiered vegan cake, complete with adorable Mr & Mrs cactus toppers. Having recently gone vegan myself, I wanted to use a cake supplier with the same ethics for this shoot.”
Contrasting Looks
“Our bride, Zuzanna wore bespoke vintage inspired gowns by Poppy Perspective. We chose two contrasting gowns, one with an incredible lace cape for a soft, carefree look, and a second, gold sequinned dress to provide a more luxe, stylised feel. Knot Your Average Bride completed the contrasting looks with a loose updo hairstyle and nude make-up, followed by catwalk-worthy slick back hair and deep lips to match the colours within the florals.
“To add that extra sense of boho luxe, Zuzanna wore lace ankle boots from House of Elliot and unique handmade jewellery from Aimee Winstone. Together they added the final touches for a detail-focused bride.”
Cactus Details
“Rock the Day created a stunning wedding banquet set up. Black potted cactus topped a living coral dip-dyed table runner centrepiece, with a hanging floral hoop above. The living coral, Pantone’s 2019 colour of the year, created a vibrant backdrop against the rest of the decor. I absolutely loved the dreamcatcher inspired chair backs; they added a whole new feel to the bohemian furniture supplied by Anthology Vintage Hire. I’ve wanted to work with Knots and Kisses for a long time, and their bespoke luxe stationery featured tiny cactus details and bright splashes of pink.”
Luxe and Stylish Backdrop
“Our final set-up was a ceremony area with a large hoop, expertly decorated with florals provided by Bohotanical. Using eucalyptus as a stunning base, carnations, roses and Veronica clea provided pops of colour. The hoop added a luxe and stylish backdrop for an eye-catching ceremony, and then we used a vintage peacock statement chair for our model Zuzanna to create an extra sense of boho.
“This shoot was a pleasure to co-ordinate. I love how the vibrant colours contrasted with the beautiful Old Parish Rooms; I am definitely sold on cactus as alternative wedding styling!”
