Today’s feature is a beautiful bridal beauty shoot, with a mix of luxury and glamour with a modern twist. Claire Salter created the luxurious make-up and elegant hairstyles which are very fitting of the 50’s, and we just adore the headpieces from Debbie Carlisle that the models are wearing. The photographer, Phil Drinkwater, captures the elegance of this shoot perfectly.
We hope you love this as much as we do…
“The intention of the shoot was to aim towards a mix of luxury and glamour with a modern twist, so the hair I created on the models had a 50’s yet modern elegance to it. I used a small curling iron to create the finger wave style on Verity and a larger curling iron to create the glamorous waves on Jen’s hair. The make-up needed to have a luxurious yet subtle feel to it, so I used gold, silver and metallic tones on the eyes and kept the lips neutral, and used highlighter on the cheek bones and kept the blusher minimal.” — Claire Salter
“This shoot was about vintage glamour with a luxurious feel, so the lighting and mood of the shoot had to reflect this.
“The lighting style I chose was one which is often used for high-end jewellery shoots — a front light with a hint of an accent light from behind, to give a more three dimensional feel to the beautiful models as well as to pick out some of the detail in their hair. The front light was positioned to give a hat tip to classic 50’s Hollywood glamour style which is the era which most closely represents this style. However, this was also mixed with a more modern fashion feel too.” — Phil Drinkwater
