I have some super sweet hen party inspiration for you today with this colourful 1960’s Mod inspired ice cream hen party shoot. These cool hen party ideas were dreamt up by stylist Kristin Rapisardi of Lustre Theory. The styling combines the most amazing bold and pastel colours, fabulous florals, ribbons, balloons, and a cute pup! The concept is inspired by the well-loved 60’s mod era, and combined with a love of ice cream and sweet things works so well. These ideas are perfect for a spring or summer hen party.
Everything about this shoot is fun and playful. I really adore the cute ice cream hen party stationery in pastel watercolours. Even the envelope has a pretty liner, and there’s also an ice cream cut-out RSVP (love this so much!).
Of course, the ice cream is the main attraction of the shoot, with fabulous cones filled with delicious ice creams, but other showstoppers include retro candy treats and ice cream filled macarons (oh how I long for one of these).
Kristin has really excelled herself with these whimsical hen party ideas that really will wow brides to be. Enjoy!
1960’s Mod Style
“This shoot combined amazing colours, macaron ice cream sandwiches and one of my favourite vintage style eras. Inspired by the 1960’s Mod style, the shoot took place in the downtown Norfolk Arts District, sometimes called the Neon District of Norfolk, Virginia.
“Rather than copy the well known Twiggy style we wanted to include hints so you could feel the influence when looking at the images.”

Bright, Bold Colour
“Colour played a big role in defining this classic look, with bright, bold colour in geometric patterns and vintage influence. The style focuses on colour blocking, hints of bright yellow, orange, pink and pastels.
“The subculture brought about a more playful approach to the use of colour in the make-up. We chose different elements of 1960’s hair and make-up trends for the models, with voluminous hair, lots of eyeliner and large, bright accessories.”
