This week’s real wedding pictures are from the wedding of Haley and Bob,which took place at the Rancho Camulos Museum in California. Photographed by Lukas and Suzy Photography, Haley and Bob’s wedding was a beautiful outdoor affair, with lots of stunning DIY details, and a ceremony under a tree…
“Honestly, we didn’t really have a specific theme in mind when we started planning our wedding; all I knew was that I wanted it to be outdoors and for the ceremony to be underneath a beautiful tree.
“For the reception, I wanted desserts and lemonade/sweet tea, with an old fashioned candy cart for guest favours and all sorts of DIY goodness (and mason jars, of course!). Emilee Hegg from Tasteful Tatters was the real talent behind this perfect (if I do say so myself) day! When I came to her, I really didn’t have any real direction, but she was so patient and helped me by asking me what each of us had a passion for.
“I’m a photographer and Bob loves all things graphic design, specifically fonts. So, for the centrepieces we had vintage cameras and old books. All of the details were made up of rentals from Emilee (milk glass vases, books, old cameras, birdcages, windows hanging from the ceremony tree, etc.) and things that were handmade. I hosted a little brunch and crafts get together a few weeks before the wedding where we made most of these details. I highly recommend this as it saved so, so much time, and it was great fun! We cut out paper hearts and put them on kebab sticks, and we used them to line the aisle; it was just lovely! My maid of honour and I also made a couple of sweet little banners, and some chalkboard labels for all the food, drink and candy. We cut out hundreds of paper hearts so our guests could ‘fill the hearts with words of love for the bride and groom’ as an alternative to a traditional guest book. We also had lawn games including bocce ball, croquet and a couple of others.
“At the end of the day, our guests received rose petals to throw for our getaway, which ended up being really beautiful!”
