Today we have the pictures from Evanna and Anthony’s wedding, taken by EFC Photography, to share with you. Evanna and Anthony’s wedding took place at Knappogue Castle in Co. Clare, in September 2012. The castle was the perfect setting for their traditional Irish wedding… with a twist.
“We went for a soft, ethereal and romantic colour scheme with a traditional Medieval Irish theme. Having our reception in a 15th century Irish castle, complete with Medieval castle entertainers and fantastic banquet style decor, was a feast for the eyes, and it was so much fun having the entertainers through the courses.
“We love history on so many levels. Anthony, being Australian but of Dutch/Irish heritage, particularly loves Irish history and anything to do with castles and swords. As I am Irish, I wanted his family to experience a traditional Irish wedding with a Medieval twist.
“I designed my dress with the wonderful help of Wendy Makin, and I wore my Mum’s garter, which she lovingly brought back to life, sewing pair of doves in blue silk onto it. We used a very old coin during the catholic wedding ceremony that was handed down from my great, great grandfather, and is traditionally used during the vows. We also had a family friend re-paint my parents’ cake topper from 36 years ago; my siblings and I used to play with it so it had seen better days! A very good friend from Australia who traveled over to Ireland for our wedding gave me 2 old Australian coins to glue to my shoes for luck…it was a really nice touch. We also named the tables after places we have visited or our Australian families live, which brought a bit more Ozziness to the day! We had a table adorned with wedding pictures from our parents, grandparents and great grandparents which was really special for everyone to see, and was a great talking point too.”
