This week’s real wedding pictures are from the wedding of Amanda and Darren. Photographed by Absolute Photography, Amanda and Darren’s wedding took place in East Sussex, with their ceremony at De La Warr Pavilion followed by a reception at All Saints Chapel in Eastbourne. Most of the details from the day were made by the couple and based around the theme of ‘Some Things Just Belong Together’…
“It took a long time to settle on a wedding theme — we really loved our original theme but had to change it when we changed our reception venue as it didn’t fit. We wanted our wedding theme to be two things reflective of our personalities and really open so we could include lots of colour. Once we figured it out it seemed so ‘right’! So, our theme was ‘Some Things Just Belong Together’. We included this in our invites, favours and table names; Fish and Chips, Cookies and Milk, Gin and Tonic, Bread and Cheese, Q and U, Picnic and Blankets, and Amanda and Darren.
“We are both very practical and creative so made nearly everything for the wedding. We bought reclaimed letterpress equipment and designed and printed all our invites, evening activities books, place mats and anything else we could think of. We made a photobooth, table names, comments tables, favours, floral arrangements and many more things to keep our guests eyes whizzing around the room. We also made 100 miss-matched floral chair covers from vintage and retro fabric, lit-up signs and a temporary tattoo station from which we had people apply finger Moustaches to our guests — this went down so well that we now hire these all out, through Doris Loves, a wedding company I set up shortly after the wedding.
“We were really lucky with our wedding suppliers and had a great team around us. The De La Warr Pavilion was the perfect place to say ‘I do’, and Dan from Absolute Photography was a perfect fit and super creative; he managed to capture the mood of the day and we love looking at his photos on our wall every day.
“The process of creating our perfect big day and now working on Doris Loves has really brought us a lot closer together and reaffirmed why we got married!”
