We love a wedding where the bride wears a pair of Dr Martens, especially if they are cute flowery ones! Katie and Hovan’s wedding has so many wonderful details, from the choice of shoes to the groomsmen’s kilts (with Star Wars pants!), to the abundance of fairy lights, rustic decor and the incredible Scottish highland scenery that frames this wedding.
Photographer Nina Pang tells the story of Katie and Hovan’s amazing wedding day in these beautiful pictures…
“Since I’m Scottish and Hovan is from Tennessee, we wanted it to be Scottish/Southern Appalachian themed wedding. We had a traditional ceremony at a tiny church in the highlands by Loch Earn — the weather on the day was traditionally Scottish too; very misty with snow on the surrounding mountains. We tried to squeeze as many people into the church as we could — I think we got around 100 people in there, including our dog Moki!
“Our reception at a converted barn at Comrie Croft was totally amazing. One of the reasons we chose the venue was because everyone could stay over for the nights surrounding the wedding and everyone could relax and not have to worry about getting home after the reception. Myself and my bridesmaids decorated the venue the day before, so it was definitely a labour of love. On the night we had a hog roast followed by our band. We know a lot of fantastic musicians so we were totally spoilt with the music — there was a lot of country and rock ‘n’ roll.”
