Sarah and Matthew’s wedding reception, photographed by Justine Ferrari Photography, took place in the garden of Sarah’s family home in Suffolk, following a ceremony at the nearby parish church. Bunting, country flowers, and jam jar decorations turned the garden into the perfect setting for their rustic country themed wedding.
“The wedding was focused on a rustic, Suffolk, country theme, with a massive emphasis on sunflowers and the harvest. We wanted it, in essence, to be a very relaxed, garden party where everyone could eat, drink and be merry to their heart’s content.
“The wedding for us was about celebrating with our closest family and friends in a relaxed environment that reflected the type of couple we are. It allowed us to be more creative and to ensure all elements really meant something to us, such as the abundance of sunflowers, a delicious BBQ, being outdoors and lots of wine!
“My parents had their wedding reception in their garden and it seemed fitting for us to follow suit. The garden itself was the most special feature of the day as it is just beautiful. All the sunflowers were homegrown by my mum and were also used for the buttonholes. She also hand painted all our wedding invites, made our wedding cake and prepared cake stands with old fashioned cakes. My friends and I spent hours decorating jam jars with ribbon and raffia, and these were placed all around the garden with flowers and nightlights. My dad had built the garden furniture and made the chalk boards that we had dotted around with quotes on. We trawled the charity shops for vintage style picnic blankets to be placed over the straw bales.”
