This week’s real wedding pictures, taken by Sean Casey Photography, are from the wedding of Kate and Michael, which took place at Carlton Towers in Selby, North Yorkshire. Planned in just five months, their wedding was an elegant affair, with their jade, silver and light grey colour scheme perfectly complementing the stunning stately home setting.
“We wanted a wedding that was classy, individual and modern, with a stately home/’castley’ looking venue and an expensive feel… but without the price tag. When we found Carlton Towers our jaws hit the ground. It was so stunning and we fell in love with it instantly. Because we were having a winter wedding we wanted to pick colours that would be vibrant and stand out in the pictures, so we finally settled on a jade, silver and light grey. We also had subtle theme of butterflies, as I really like butterflies.
“We wanted a really pretty venue but with the freedom to mention God and sing Christian songs. We found there are many restrictions as to what you can and can’t say in a ‘non-religious’ venue. To get around this problem, we got married legally at our local registry office a few days before the wedding, so all the legalities had been taken care of and therefore technically we were having a ‘blessing’. The legal part was not the important part for us, it was the vows we were making to each other and in-keeping with our beliefs.
“Because our venue was so stunning on its own, we really didn’t have to decorate it much. We brought in the flowers and table decorations and that was about it. We didn’t bother with anything like chair covers as they took away from the gorgeous ceremony room, with its gold walls, high ceilings and large fireplaces.
“One of the best parts of the day was our first dance, that was actually a duet. We sang ‘I Won’t Give Up’ by Jason Mraz. This was really special and also a song sung from our hearts.”
