Fay and Mark’s wedding took place at The Devonshire Fell hotel in Yorkshire, with the magnificent scenery of the Yorkshire Dales the backdrop for their day. With a hint of Hollywood vintage, the couple kept their wedding styling simple yet beautiful.
Pretty foliage and eucalyptus brought the soft colour pallet of cream and ivory to life, giving a soft blue hue. The wedding ceremony room included chiavari chairs with ivory sashes tied with cream ribbon, cream roses and foliage, and hurricane lamps down the aisle.
For their wedding breakfast, wedding place settings with clear silver bead edged chargers gave a nod to the Hollywood vintage theme, laid with a simple sprig of rosemary tied with cream ribbon to match the ribbon of the chair sashes. Fay made homemade limoncello and jam as favours in a cream chiffon bag, and pretty floral arrangements displayed on each table mirrored Fay’s bouquet, where the cream roses, calla lilies, stephanotis and eucalyptus looked stunning against her ivory off the shoulder fitted Suzanne Neville wedding dress.
For anyone looking for an alternative to the traditional wedding cake, check out Fay and Mark’s six tier cheese stack decorated with fruit and a cute Lego cake topper! And if you are looking for something different for your wedding entertainment, then how about Morris Dancers? Fay secretly arranged this as a surprise to Mark and their guests, and it went down a treat!
Even the rain couldn’t dampen everyone’s spirits. In fact their photographer, Bethany Lloyd-Clarke, captured some fabulous couple picture, with the dark, moody sky adding to the effect!
Breathtaking Views
“Mark proposed in Paris, at the Place du Trocadero overlooking the Eiffel Tower. We were on a European tour which took us from the Goodwood Festival in Chichester, to London, Paris, then onwards to Zurich in Switzerland, and then into Italy — Milan, Bologna, Florence and Lucca. It was a complete surprise. Mark did his proposal planning in the run up to the holiday whilst I was sorting out trains.
“We married at the Devonshire Fell in the Yorkshire Dales. It was the breathtaking views that did it and, once we visited, we didn’t look anywhere else.
“My dress was a slim fitting Suzanne Neville dress, ‘Sanzio’, from The Bridal Boutique in Baildon, which I wore with a veil and accessories from Sasso Bridal in Leeds. Mark wore a custom made suit from Michelsburg Tailoring in Leeds, his sons wore suits from John Lewis, and my two flower girls wore dusty pink dresses from Monsoon.”
Hollywood Vintage
“Our wedding styling was simple, and a little Hollywood vintage. We had some 1940’s tunes playing as guests arrived, cream and green colours, and lots of foliage. Donna Wojtas from Ambience Styling styled the room with hurricane lamps, candles, chiffon chair drapes, rosemary threaded into the napkins, and rose and eucalyptus florals at the end of aisle chairs.
“Vanessa Wellock from Wild Flowers based in Ilkley arranged our flowers. They were mainly cream and included roses, lilies and stephanotis, along with some foliage.”
Surprise Morris Dancers
“We decided to have a cheese stack instead of a traditional wedding cake, and it had Lego men on the top of it. For our entertainment we had surprise Morris dancers. Mark once mentioned that he had seen some Morris dancers and it was fun, so I arranged some for the wedding day. Mark had no idea until they started!
“We found our wedding photographer, Bethany Lloyd-Clarke, online. We wanted a laid-back approach, and were so pleased with Bethany’s unobtrusive, professional approach on the day. The photos are simply wonderful — we love them all!”
