I absolutely adore Kate Spade’s designs, and I’m still in shock about her death earlier this year. Her designs offer great inspiration for wedding styling, and I totally fell in love with Maureen and Richard’s beautiful Kate Spade inspired garden party wedding.
In true Kate Spade style this wedding has a classic black and white vibe. There’s an abundance of bold monogram detailing, black and white stripes, and black bridesmaid dresses to complement Maureen’s beautiful white wedding dress. To contrast the black and white concept the couple added so many colourful, citrusy florals and gold accents to the mix, giving this garden party wedding such charm.
Maureen and Richard dedicated so much care and attention to their special day. I love a bold colour palette for a summer wedding, and the pink, orange and green colours work perfectly with the black and white. The tablescapes are fabulous, with white table linen, white china plates set with a modern black and white menu, and gorgeous blooms that take centre stage. Cute little details pop up throughout too. Gold details add a pop of opulence to the styling, including gold pineapples, Mr & Mrs chair signs, candle votives and vases.
Spectacular, colourful florals feature heavily throughout the wedding, in beautiful bouquets, table flowers, and also in the garden area. This outdoor area made a wonderful chill-out lounge for guests to enjoy.
If you’re looking for colourful wedding ideas for our own big day, then you will love these Kate Spade inspired ideas. I hope you enjoy looking through Dana Cubbage Wedding’s beautiful pictures of Maureen and Richard’s big day.
Kate Spade Meets Garden Wedding
“We wanted our wedding to be polished yet fun, with tons of classic, Southern accents. Our design aesthetic was ‘Kate Spade meets garden wedding’, and we used lots of bold black and white stripes, pops of gold, and tons of bright flowers. It was important to us to use unique flowers and flower combinations too, instead of using the same old flowers.
“I LOVE monograms, and love that quote about monogramming anything that sits still long enough! We therefore incorporated lots of monogrammed details throughout the wedding, including cocktail napkins, koozies and a cake topper. We also made quite a few things ourselves, and included pineapples as a nod to Charleston hospitality.”
