This week’s real wedding feature is the beautiful wedding of Lucy and Martyn, photographed by Archibald Photography. Lucy and Martyn married in the ambient Dirleton Castle in Scotland and then had a vintage style wedding reception in beach tipis provided by PapaKåta. The couple put so much effort into the detailing and special touches which make this wedding so inspirational.
“We both felt very strongly that we wanted to incorporate everything we love about Scotland; the beaches, the castles and the countryside. This formed the basis of our wedding ideas book and it just grew from there. We wanted to make sure it was relaxed and fun for us and everyone else.
“When we were deciding on our venues, we wanted to give our family and friends a taste of what we love about Scotland. Dirleton castle was the first castle we visited when we moved here and we just think it is so romantic. We love how you can see Bass Rock from the top, as you can from ‘our beach’.
“Lucy had always loved the Tipis and we knew we wanted them in a location where they would fit in with the surroundings, and also close to the beach. The tipis were supplied by PapaKåta. We stumbled across Lochouses and it was the perfect location.
“The three tipis were designed individually to create a separate feel for each one. The centre was designed around the smokeless fire in the middle, with round tables surrounding it with a long top table. The tables were dressed with vintage china, candlesticks and flowers. The dance floor tipi had fairy lights up the poles and a disco ball at the top which twinkled all night, with a slightly lifted stage for the band. The chill out tent at the end, had sofas and benches with reindeer skins, again focused around the fire, with a ‘photo washing line’ across the canvas showing a history of the time we have spent together.
“The day was just magical. We loved having all our family and friends together, and I think because of the setting, everyone was so relaxed and just enjoyed every minute. It turned cooler as the day wore on, but that made the fires in the tipi come to life. As night set in, to be enclosed in our own self-created wonderland within the tipi just walking distance from the coast was everything we ever dreamed of.”
