Today we are featuring beautiful pictures, taken by Claire Basiuk Photography, from the wedding of Annie and Simon. Following a civil ceremony at Islington Town Hall, the couple and their wedding party travelled by London bus to their reception at Bistrot Bruno Loubet at The Zetter Hotel. Wedding details included knitted ties, cupcakes… and Simon’s proposal…
“There wasn’t really a theme as such; it was important to us to have a lovely day involving our family and friends. We wanted a meaningful, non-religious ceremony, good food and fun dancing.
“As Simon had proposed by screen printing a poem onto two big sheets of A2 paper we wanted them on display (our friends conspired with Simon to sneak the wedding proposal screen prints into our flat to surprise me when we got back from holiday), and we made a point of using the same bold font throughout all our wedding literature, table plans, order of service and place names etc; we felt it gave it an identity, and plenty of our guests commented on how much they liked it.
“We wanted our wedding to modern, equal and not too wedding-y, and to reflect us as a couple. While we didn’t do everything 100% ourselves, we wanted to be hands-on, and have as much of it DIY as possible. My mum knitted Simon and his best man’s ties, and had some beautiful pearl earrings made for me, and our friend Charlie (with Ali and Helen) made huge batches of delicious cupcakes.”
