Almost every little girl dreams of a fairytale wedding when they are young, and the bride in this week’s real wedding, Sabrina, still dreamt of such a wedding once she’d found her perfect man. Hubert, a cool French guy, was the lucky “Mr Right”.
Set in Schloss Münichau in Austria, and photographed by Carmen and Ingo Photography, this Alice in Winter Wonderland wedding is filled with such amazing details; we love it and we’re sure you will too. Also, take a look at their amazing colourful after wedding shoot here.
“Since I was a little girl I’ve always loved winter and dreamt of having a winter wedding — and of course I always loved Alice in Wonderland, which I grew up with. Our wedding theme was born around the idea of fantasy; as we are from two different countries (I am German, and Hubert is French), speak different languages, met in Vegas and fell in love, our story seemed like fantasy; and what reflects fantasy better than Alice in Wonderland!?
“I wanted to combine Alice in Wonderland with winter, although the two have no connection, as I just love playing with extremes. I also love details, so it was very important to me that everything was well planned and perfectly designed. This, and the fact that we live in London and had to organise a wedding in the middle of the Austrian Alps, made us decide to work with a wedding planner, Doreen Winking Weddings. We really let everyone run with our ideas — and as you’ll see the team totally nailed it!
“The Victorian era has fascinated me since I moved to London, and so I started to create a wedding dress in my head around this. I knew that I would need an outstanding but warm dress, and I imagined a Victorian yet still traditional dress, that was very sophisticated and modern. I found Victorian Gothic, makers of Victorian Gothic dresses using original patterns, who were very excited to work on not only the dress, but also the shoes, hat and other details. Hubert wore an original vintage suit and top hat from 1890 he bought in a vintage store in London.
“Our fairytale wedding with its cold, cosy winter mood brought different cultures and nations together, no matter if they spoke the same language or not, and we enjoyed every second of our wedding!”
