Today’s vintage, village fete themed wedding, photographed by Rebecca Douglas Photography, is full of charm and character. Damian and Nicola created a really fun, relaxed wedding that suited their personalities.
This wedding has an abundance of handmade items, from the tablecloths to the gorgeous fabric buttonholes and favours for their guests. The couple collected many items for their wedding decor from car boot sales, so this wedding is an example that you can use any resources available to you rather than buying new. Nicola even got her stunning wedding dress from eBay for just £95, and with a little alteration from her mum she wore the dress of her dreams for a bargain price…
“Our wedding took place at Chilham Village Hall near Canterbury, Kent. We wanted to create really relaxed wedding with a vintage/village fete theme, with lawn games, a cake table of cakes from our guests and a live band.
“We visited a lot of boot fairs on Sundays to collect crockery and vintage pieces, I made the bouquets using gypsophila, and my mum made 150 metres of bunting, 27 table cloths and the fabric buttonholes and favours.
“My mum also made a few alterations to my dress which I bought from eBay for the grand sum of £95, and she made my fabric corsage and shawl; my bag was a lucky find from a boot fair.
“For our reception the venue supplied the trestle tables, lighting was supplied by the lighting engineer from the Leas Cliff Hall, and the bar and bar decor was from The Chambers Pub in Folkestone. We decorated the venue with bunting, jam jars of candles, off cuts of gypsophila and paper hearts cut from books.”
