And the winner of The Wedding Community’s Picture of the Year is… First Light Photography!
Our congratulations go to First Light Photography, after this beautiful picture received the most votes in our poll to win our 2018 Picture of the Year award. Taken before Lynsey and Ewan’s wedding in Edinburgh, the soft directional light helped create a look Ditte described as ‘almost like a Vermeer painting’. Ditte told us how grateful she is for all the kind words and lovely comments she has received about this picture…
A Really Lovely Moment to Capture
“Wow, such great news! It was brilliant to win Picture of the Month and going on to win Picture of the Year is fantastic! What a great way to start 2019!
“Thank you Wedding Community for the feature and to everyone who voted for my picture. Congratulations to all the other Picture of the Month winners too; there were some beautiful pictures in this year’s competition.
“This image was a really lovely moment to capture; a childhood bedroom full of sisters, friends, family, hair stylist and me — the excitement and nerves in the room were tangible. The bedroom had an offset window creating a directional but very soft light, which worked completely in my favour. Once my lovely bride sat down to have her veil fitted it was just a matter of waiting for the right moment to press the shutter.
“Being in The Wedding Community’s Picture of the Month and Year competitions has been an overwhelmingly positive experience for me. I have had so many lovely comments about this photograph and messages of good luck, many from people I’ve never met or spoken to before. I’m really grateful for all the support and kind words received.”
