And the winner is… Déus Photography!
This incredible picture by Déus Photography received the most votes in our poll and has won our July 2016 Picture of the Month competition. Taken at Bree and Justin’s wedding in Canberra, Australia, this picture was taken as part of their ‘first look‘ session before their ceremony. Jane of Déus Photography explained how this picture would never have happened had it not been for a change of wedding location…
Alone Time
“I’m stoked that Justin and Bree’s little twirl down the lane at Poacher’s Pantry in Canberra, Australia, won Picture of the Month. Their wedding was originally planned to happen in Thailand; I was super excited to be heading there for a working holiday! However, for a few reasons they decided to hold their wedding in their home town of Canberra. The beautiful, warm autumn colours and stunning country scenery made up for our missed Thailand escape!
“This image was actually part of a ‘first look’ session before their wedding ceremony. I asked Justin and Bree to take a walk down this tree-lined laneway and spend some ‘alone time’ together before they were to be married. This twirl happened instantaneously after Bree showed her dress off to Justin. They love a dance and I wasn’t surprised when it happened, and was glad to be ready with my camera for the moment.
“The image was shot on a Canon 5Diii with a 35mm lens. I am a big fan of incorporating my couples into the surrounding landscape and like to think it’s more than a wedding photo. Some might even think of it as a piece of art hanging on a wall somewhere.”
