And the winner is… Peter Anslow Photography!

Our congratulations go to Peter Anslow Photography after you voted this stunning picture from Kirsty and Josh’s wedding our February 2021 Picture of the Month. Peter will now go through to our Picture of the Year final in January, a scenario he is very familiar with having been a finalist on four other occasions, actually winning our Picture of the Year award in 2019. Like for his winning picture from 2019, Peter used the wet weather to his advantage, capturing this cracking shot as the couple sheltered from the rain at Mitton Hall…

A Touch of Drama

“This is Kirsty and Josh who married on 11th January 2020, just two months before ‘Lockdown’ when everything was right with the world.

“The ceremony and celebrations took place at Mitton Hall near Clitheroe in Lancashire. It is one of the most popular wedding venues in the North West and a place I have been to numerous times, so I know it very well. The weather was quite nice for mid-January, so we managed to take all the group shots and bride and groom portraits before the wedding breakfast began, while it was still light.

“By the time the speeches had finished it was dark outside and had started to rain, so I took advantage of this. I asked Kirsty and Josh to stand together under the arched entrance, so they would keep dry, and then placed a flash directly behind them.

“By using the manual settings on my camera (with a bit of trial and error!), I managed to capture this ‘night-time’ shot and illuminated the rain slightly to add a touch of drama.”
