Now or Never

“I took this picture on 10th August 2019 at Mickey and Kasia’s wedding at Higher Trapp House near Burnley. As it rained most of the day we had few opportunities to go outside for any ‘natural light’ portraits or group shots.

“It approached 8.30pm and the light had faded, so I thought ‘it’s now or never’. So I set the shot up ready for them, using a Nikon D810 with 24-70mm at iso 500, at f8 with the shutter speed at 1/160second and focal length at 40mm. I also placed an off camera flash about two metres behind them at ¼ power.

“We rushed Mickey and Kasia outside, covering them with my brolly, and fired a few shots off before they got too wet! It was certainly worth the results and they love it. The rain cleared up later so we also got a few shots with some sparklers!

“The venue has some lovely rooms inside so all was not lost, but this shot was the icing on the cake. It just goes to show that experienced wedding photographers can take gorgeous photos no matter what the British weather throws at us.”
