And the winner is… Little Jewel Photography!

Bride and groom sitting on a bench looking at a lake - Picture by Little Jewel Photography

Congratulations to Little Jewel Photography, the winner of our August Picture of the Day competition. This beautiful picture received the most votes from our readers, and becomes the 8th picture to go through to our Picture of the Year vote in January.

We asked Julie of Little Jewel Photography to tell us a little bit about the picture.

“This is one of my all time favourite wedding images. It was taken of Jo and Dom who were married at Ripley Castle in Harrogate in April 2011. It was Easter weekend and one of the hottest days of the year.

“This picture was taken after the ceremony, during the time I spent just with the couple. The grounds at Ripley Castle are exquisite so we took a few glasses of Champagne and just went for a walk around the grounds, capturing a few intimate moments along the way. I try not to direct my couples too much as I find the best images are often the spontaneous ones.

“What I love about this image is its simplicity and tranquillity; the bride and groom sharing a quiet moment together on their wedding day. The tenderness of the brides head resting on her husband’s shoulder; the couple looking out in the distance, picturing their future together. I like the anonymity of the shot… as though you can picture yourself being there in that moment.

“It was a fantastic day with a truly lovely couple who have just had a beautiful little baby so many congratulations to them!”
